Our patent pending technology (GB2416791.8.) is based on a completely new way of using foam to protect crops from freezing conditions. As opposed to using foam as an insulator, which has been trialed in the past, our foam harnesses the latent heat as the water molecules change from liquid to crystalline solid. In order for the latent heat to dissipate and the temperature to drop below zero, this energy has to propagate through the thermally resistant foam structure. This takes time, in fact all night, even if temperatures drop well below freezing.
So in one application all the water necessary for sufficient latent heat is encapsulated and contained within the ultra stable foam. So there is no need for a continuous mist of water to be applied, no need for expensive infrastructure nor is there the concern of over use of water and its subsequent effect on waterlogging soils.
